Privacy Policy

MyTalisman is built private by design. Your intentions, reflections, and symbols are yours. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices and controls you have.
1. Who we are
“MyTalisman,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of the MyTalisman mobile application and this website (mytalisman.app). MyTalisman is a tool for reflection, intention-setting, and personal ritual. We are the data controller for the personal information described below.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to give you the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising.

We do not intentionally collect special-category data. Anything you type into an intention is treated as your private content.
Location
If you grant location access, we use your approximate location to compute the real astronomical “moment” of a talisman (true sunrise/sunset for the planetary hour, and the Moon phase). You can also simply type a place name instead. We store the resulting moment with your talisman; we do not use your location for tracking or advertising.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core features: creating, composing, storing, and displaying your talismans and rituals.
- To personalise your experience (your name, details, and correspondences).
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the app.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Our legal bases (where the GDPR applies) are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the app), your consent (e.g. for optional location), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), and legal obligation.
4. Service providers (sub-processors)
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage that host your account, profile, content, and talisman images.
- OpenAI — generates your talisman image from the details you provide (see “AI image generation” below).
- Apple and Google — optional “Sign in with Apple / Google,” and app distribution through their stores.
- Expo / EAS — app delivery and over-the-air updates.
These providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where required, such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses). We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers.
5. AI image generation
When you forge a talisman, the details you provide — your intention and the symbolic instructions composed from your choices — are sent to OpenAI to generate your unique emblem. Under OpenAI’s API terms, this content is processed solely to produce your result and is not used to train their models. The final image is stored in your account. Please avoid putting sensitive personal details into free-text intentions, as that text is part of what is processed to create your symbol.
6. Retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You are always in control:
- Export — in the app, open the You tab → Export my data to download everything you have created.
- Delete — open the You tab → Delete account to permanently erase your profile, every talisman, and all associated history. This cannot be undone.
After deletion, residual copies may persist briefly in encrypted backups before being overwritten on our providers’ normal cycles. You can also reach us at the address below to request access, correction, or deletion.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We honor these rights for all users through the in-app export and delete tools and by request. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws.
8. Children
MyTalisman is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, where higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, scoped access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we collect in the first place.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
